2026 Diary - Page 74

19 September

We didn't get home until 1.30 a.m. this morning but I was wide awake at 7 a.m. so got up and started on the unpacking and washing. Three loads later and the indoor airers were all full so the rest will have to wait.

I went to get the shopping (Jonathon had committed to do a two day festival photo shoot).

Unfortunately, when I got home I spotted a very poorly looking parakeet on our patio. I took a photo and video then messaged Greenwich Wildlife Network for their help. I managed to get him into a box and popped him in the greenhouse. I checked on him every 10 mintues or so and he seemed to be alive until Elena from GWN arrived to collect him. A sad end but he was very ill. I'm sure the foxes will enjoy him for their tea.

No rest for the wicked so it was time to lead a Knoll walk. Today's walk was based round various local churches (external only), through meadows and woodland and ended at St. John's amazing Flower Festival.

St. John's is 100 years old next May and the Flower Festival is the first event to celebrate it.

Each of the big arrangements represents a different decade - they were stunning.

Millennium

We all took advantage of the refreshments (including home made cakes) before Ginny and I joined several others for a choir practice ready for tomorrow's Harvest service and Eddie Bell's funeral on Tuesday.

Jonathon came home when the light got too weak for photography and we sat and watched television before heading off to sleep.

20 September

I decided to go for a walk when I got up rather than the gym so I could get some steps done in the fresh air.

It was lovely to see lots of green after the sandy conditions of last week.

It was Harvest Service at church and Music Group sang the intro at the front of the church. Ginny joined us as a one off.

I went to the gym after church then Sainsbury's to get something for my dinner. I'd hoped for some cooked salmon - there was only chillii salmon which didn't appeal so I got salmon en croute instead. It was quite tasty.

I caught up with Mum - she has definitely decided that she's staying put at Emmaus House and won't be going back to the bungalow.

Sindhu came to borrow some knitting needles and have some wool because she's hoping to learn how to knit from YouTube.

I did some gardening in between calls, visits etc. - sweeping up leaves and weeding.
