Mum & Dad's Diamond Wedding - December 2018 |
We enjoyed last year's weekend of parties for Mum's 80th so much, Mum & Dad decided to do something similar for their Diamond Wedding so a party on Saturday and family lunch on Sunday.
The Saturday party was at The Anchor Inn in Whixley. The pub was closed while we were there we could mingle to our heart's content. There were 49 of us in total so lots of catching up to do.
Mum and Dad had commissioned a painting from Shirley Vine as a gift to each other. It's of the Millennium Field at Whixley. Rather than presents, Mum and Dad invited their guests to make a donation to Martin House and Yorkshire Air Ambulance so P&P created a lovely little box and label so people knew where to put their money. |
Dad, Carole and I went over to The Anchor in the morning to set it all up. The Christmas decorations were already in place but we added the table cloths (Pauline borrowed them from Whixley church), balloons, sparkles, cards and so on. |
To start the afternoon's celebrations, Pauline and her fellow bell ringers rang a quarter peal. |
Sixty years is really something special and was even acknowledged by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. |
The room looked very different when everyone was settling in. |
