Our Garden - December 2016 |
I'm still trying to tidy up from when the tree men moved in a couple of weeks ago and lopped the trees. I went to work one morning thinking that our lovely tall (30 ft) trees on the right hand side of the garden would be about 12 ft tall when I came home only to fund they were about 8 ft. The garden feels much more open (less private) but I've got over the shock now. As I say, still tidying up! |
The grass beds have a few interesting features now and then. |
The fern has been cut back today as it was starting to go brown and ready for winter. |
Although there's a lot of green in the garden, there is also a splash of colour here and there. |
It was a lovely sunny winter day. |
I've never seen so many berries on this bush before. |
There's plenty of ivy around. Some where we want it and some where we don't! |
We usually have a couple of "snowberries" but I've not seen them cluster like this before. |
This little skimmia japonica is hidden by the acers most of the year but comes into its own in Winter. |
The last of the roses in the back garden. |
From pale pink to brown. I generally leave the sedum heads until the new rosettes are showing through in the Spring. |
The heuchera leaves also add a bit of colour. |
This viburnum seems to flower most of the year round. |
The winter jasmine is in full bloom. |
These look good for future squirrel food. |
Red cornus in both front and back gardens. |
The pampas showed off the lovely blue sky we enjoyed today. |
Lots of bright acid green colour from the cornus as well. |
This cornus is taking over the front garden. |
These chrysanthemums are fading but still lovely and fluffy looking at the moment. |
A quick glance at the front bed before saying goodbye for this month. That's it for this month. |
