Our Garden - February 2014 |
The crocuses enjoyed the milder weather of the weekend of 22nd February. |
I took these three photos on the 16th Feb. After strong winds and very heavy rain, this Sunday was a beautiful day. We'd got up the day before to find the Eucalyptus tree had been blown over. It's in the picture on the left, about a quarter of the size it was. The leafy bits have been shredded and are in bags for when the green tip opens, the stick sized bits are chopped up to dry out for sticks and the bigger bits are languishing on the patio waiting to be cut up into logs. Hope it survives! |
I've moved the pigs from the bed near the Eucalyptus onto the grass. They look very cute there! |
The beginning of February was very wet but I dashed out between showers on the 8th Feb to take these photos. You can see from the patio that it had been raining but the sky was lovely and blue when I went out. |
The white bark of the Silver Birch always look lovely in the sunshine. |
The Pampas has suffered in the wind and rain but there are still a few surviving fronds to be blown about by the wind. |
There's a lot of foliage around to catch the raindrops of the sun's rays as appropriate. |
With everything being so wet, it was also very slippery so I had to be careful wandering around. |
I love Snowdrops! |
The Broccoli and Cabbages are really tasty - so much better than shop bought. |
The squirrels will be happy this year - lots of nuts to come by the looks of things. |
The Sarcococca smells lovely at the far end of the garden. |
This scene looks almost autumnal but I promise it was February. |
The Helebores are just starting to flower. |
I think the pansies must have flowered from last year because I didn't buy any new ones this year. |
This (left) is my favourite photo of the day - it shows both sunshine and dark cloud - just as most of the day was! |
The Winter has been so mild this year, the Pelargonium is still flowering. |
The pig family are becoming surrounded by Bluebell leaves. |
Another picture on the left that shows how damp it was. |
The Cornus (Dogwood) have been great this year. They add a lot of welcome colour to the garden in Winter. |
The Aconites get better every year because they spread and spread. |
It's lovely to see so many Daffodils peeping through. |
That's it for this month. I've no idea what the weather will be like later in February but I hope it dries up otherwise it will be too soggy to plant anything! |
