Our Garden - January 2015

aconite

I thought we'd start this year's tours with the front garden. Lovely colours from the Cornus (Dogwood) and the Aconites are starting to shine through.

The self seeded Viburnum is thriving in the Laurel Hedge!

Back around the back and the Euonymous is starting to have berries. The newly planted Hyacinths are starting to peep through on these patio beds as well.

cyclamen

As you can see, the grass needs cutting but it's been far too damp. These little Cyclamen add a lovely spot of colour.

bird bath

We're lucky in the number and variety of bird visitors we get to our garden. Jonathon sometimes comments that they are better fed than we are but they reward us by enjoying the garden so we can enjoy watching them. It works all round.

long tailed tit

This Long Tailed Tit was a special treat when I was walking around today. An even bigger treat was that it stayed still long enough for me to get a photo!

silver birch

The Silver Birch is lovely all year round but especially when the winter sun catches its lovely white bark.

The Silver Birch also has these catkins to add a bit more interest.

pigs

Not sure where to move the pigs to but they'll be over run by flowers before much longer.

eucalyptus

The Eucalyptus seems to be doing well despite being blown over last year. Perhaps the severe pruning we gave it before we got it upright again was welcome.

bluebells

Lots and lots of Bluebells are showing through.

lacewinghouse

Although this is officially a Lace Wing House, we have had bee occupants for the last couple of years.

pampas

I've tidied the Pampas up a bit since I took the photos so we can get past now!

brassicas

... and yummy Brassicas as well.

That's it for January. We'd had frost on some other days but not while I had the camera in my hand. No snow yet but there's time before the end of winter.

I'll add more photos next month.
