Our Garden July 2014 |
It's July the 12th and time for a wander round the garden with my camera. I've grown Clary Claryssima for the first time this year - a very pretty addition to the garden. |
One of the Acanthus has been flattened. Not sure if it's fox or wind damage. |
Agapanthus (African Lily) was very popular at Hampton Court Flower Show this year - good to know I'm in fashion! |
One of the many good things about Astrantia is that it gets better year after year. |
The Hydrangeas are really pretty this year - another favourite at Hampton Court this year. |
The Erigeron seem to be having another flowering season. |
A quick look at the food beds (please ignore the weeds). The Broad Beans and Peas are just about done but there are still Courgettes, Onions, Leeks and Potatoes to eat of look forward to. As to the fruit, the Strawberries did OK at first then tailed off but the Gooseberries are probably the best they've ever been and the Raspberries (Autumn Bliss) look like they'll produce a good crop this year. |
It was so mild this winter that some of the Bedding Dahlias survived and are flowering again. |
Some of the twiddly bits have disappeared from the top centre of the fountain but it still works and looks pretty. Not sure it aerates the pond too well but the pump does that job. |
I thought we'd lost this Hebe but I gave it a good prune and it's rallied really well this year. |
The Cosmos are still providing plenty of vibrant colour. |
Whereas the Potentillas provide much more subtle colour. |
The birds will be delighted - there are lots of Grapes this year. |
The Hostas seem to like being in their pots. |
One of our bird visitors and very welcome they are too. |
Really pleased with this picture - far more artisitic that I usually take. More by luck than judgement I have to say! |
There are only a few Rose blooms left but those that are there are lovely. |
The California Poppies also seem to be having another go. |
The Tomatoes are growing well so we should have plenty of those to eat later this year. The Sweet Peas self seed every year and are just lovely. They are better for being cut so it's a good excuse to bring them indoors. That's it for this time. Perhaps I'll wander around again later in the month. It really depends on how much changes. |
