One of our Acanthus plants has either been squashed by a fox or blown down by the wind since I took the photos.

The following photos are from earlier in June.

garden

rose

It's early June and the garden is really busy with lots of roses putting on a good show along with all the pretty coloured foliage.

front

The yellow roses at the front are all but done but the red ones are in full bloom.

alstro

The Alstromaeria Orange Glory are taking over

paeony

The Paeony at the front is such a pretty flower. It doesn't last long but it's really beautiful when it's in flower.

greenhouse

The Tomatoes (Alicante) are coming along nicely in the greenhouse.

veg
The main crop potatoes are coming along well.

pea

The rest of the veg is also coming along nicely - we're already eating our potatoes (Duke of York and Swift) and our Strawberries.

allium

The onions and leeks on the left are the edible Alliums, the one above is purely decorative.

The new grass seed has taken well - shows up the older grass now so we'll need to think about that next.

poppy

We have a few self seeded and a few "Shirley seeded" poppies in the garden - lovely flowers.

pyracantha

The Pyracantha bushes are full of flowers so there should be plenty of berries for the birds later in the year.

foxglove

The Foxgloves self seed here and there - they are very welcome.

bush

I gave the area by the pond a good clear out at the weekend (and got bitten for my troubles). It's a lot easier to see this bush now.

loveinamist

Some plant structures are simply amazing.

This Cistus bush obviously liked the milder Winter. It's the best it's ever been.

cotinus

The Cotinus is such a lovely colour. Lots of flowers coming this year.

The roses in the back are doing well. I've treated them to some sulphur this year (bought from Green Gardener) and it seems to have given them a bit of a boost.

spiraea

I'm not sure whether I like the pink flowers of Spiraea against its own yellowy foliage but it certainly adds colour.

cosmos

First Cosmos from seed to flower this year.

The Eucalyptus is thriving and none the worse for being blown over in the storms.

The Patio hasn't had its annual clean yet - it's on Jonathon's list of jobs to do - but we need suitable weather for it first.
