Our Garden - March 2014 |
So much happens in the garden in March that I ventured out again on the 19th and took some more photos (the earlier ones are lower down the page). |
We have a few hyacinths in flower - lots of different colours. |
A couple of the wallflowers are starting to flower. |
There are quite a few primulas and primroses around and about as well. |
The Kerria Japonica is starting to flower but the rest of the bushes against the fence at the end of the garden are nowhere near ready to flower yet. |
The veg beds are all dug over and fed and waiting for me to start planting stuff. The new strawberries seem to be thriving in their tubs. |
These pretty little anemones also close up when it's dark - just caught this one before it went to bed for the night. |
The sun hasn't changed direction in the photo on the left, it's reflecting off the patio doors.
We have a small number of Cyclamen from earlier years - just shows how mild this winter had been. |
Daffodils are one of my favourite flowers so there are a few of those around as well. |
These are always our first tulips to flower - they open up when it's sunny and close up again if dull, wet or dark. |
The aubretia is starting to flower. |
The forsythia is lovely at this time of year. That's it for this wander around. The following photos are from earlier in March. |
Early March, early morning and a quick wander round the garden before work to take advantage of the lovely Spring sunshine. There are quite a few daffodils out as well as a few primulas, crocuses and various other lovely flowers. |
This photo of a Helebore was a bit of an experiment but I'm pleased with the way it's turned out. |
This lovely blossom is on a tree in our front garden. |
I didn't think the Cyclamen would survive from one year to the next but this one seems to be doing OK. |
It was lovely to see the sunshine after such a damp Winter. |
It's amazing how many different kinds of Daffodils there are. We only have a small selection in our garden. |
The sunshine was lighting up the Cornus - this one looked like it was on fire. |
The Red Robin is really coming into its own now. I had to prune it hard a couple of years ago as it seemed to be fading fast but now it's got a new lease of life and is thriving. |
The frost made the leaves look pretty. |
I'm always in two minds as to whether to clear the leaves from under the Acer or leave them. This year I compromised and cleared a few of them and left the rest. The Crocuses manage to peep through whatever I do. |
The Broccoli is almost all eaten now - very tasty it has been too. |
The old and the new - the Snowdrops are fading back now whereas the Quince is just starting to flower. |
That's it for this month. |
