holly

It's been quite cold (but not freezing) and wet this year so far so getting out into the garden hasn't been easy (or that attractive) but we've finally managed to get the grass cut (Jonathon) and edged (me) so it looks a bit more like a lawn and less like a badly maintained football pitch.

The mini holly flowers are starting to come out and there are still a few catkins. Spring is definitely on its way.

The spring flowers are all coming alive again, adding lovely colour to the garden.

helebore

The helebores obviously likes cool, damp weather as they're probably the best they have ever been this year.

kerria

The kerria japonica at the far end of the garden is starting to come into flower. The soft fruit isn't doing much yet though.

spiraea

The Spiraea bushes are starting to colour up - such lovely shrubs.

The sedum is lovely at this time of year - it has such pretty and interesting foliage.

daffs

Daffodils - lots of them - out for Easter and putting on a good show.

The primulas don't want to be outdone so they are also adding lots of colour around the garden.

bluebells

The bluebells are coming into flower - they seem to be taking over the garden.

daffs

There's always a lot of interest in the garden through the various leaf forms we have.

You can tell which bit of the patio Jonathon's cleaned and what's still left to do!

quince

The quince is amazing this year - it's another one who obviously enjoyed the milder, wetter winter.

greenhouse

This little lot is in the greenhouse. They've been joined by a lot of bedding plants that have been potted (did them later in the day whilst it was raining).

shed

This lot are in the shed. The tiny plugs have now been potted on and some are in the greenhouse, some in the shed so both are a lot fuller now.

Just to prove that my shed is still tidy!

beans

The peas are in the shed. I was hoping for home grown peas for Easter but didn't quite manage that. I'm sure we'll have some before long though.

The broad beans (above) have been badly beaten by the weather but some of them have flowers on so, again, I'm hoping we'll have some veg soon.

That's it for this time - more next month.
