Our Garden - March 2017 |
Pigs are very happy to have some new daffodils surrounding them this year. Thanks Christine! |
Pretty little flowers but they are very fussy about the weather and only really like it when it's sunny. |
Still quite a bit of heather around and about. |
For a self seeded plant, this mahonia seems to be doing remarkably well. |
These little red tulips are always the first tulips to flower in our garden. The leaves on the left are bluebells. Looks like we might be in for a good show this year. |
These pretty orange flowers disguise the needle sharp leaves of this mini holly bush. |
The spiraea are starting to leaf up with their lovely colours. |
The broad beans seem to be doing quite well. There is a bare patch in the middle so not sure what's eaten those / sat on them. Who knows! |
The helebores are doing well this year. As you can see, it had rained before I trotted around with my camera. |
Last year's flowers have now been taken off the sedum as this year's growth has started. |
Lots of lovely daffodils around the garden. |
There are quite a few different sorts of daffoldils. By the time I got out there with my new camera (to replace the one that got broken on holiday), most of the tete-a-tete daffodils had died back. |
This Red Robin is spectacular this year. The tree isn't faring quite so well as this bush but is starting to show its colour. Hard to believe that this one was so tired a few years ago that I cut it right back. It clearly appreciated the hard pruning. |
The hydrangeas in the pots are starting to leaf up. Hope they survive if we get any frost. |
There are a few crocuses left but most of them have been and gone. The combination of purple crocus and tete-a-tete daffs at the bottom of the tree was lovely. |
One of the last survivors |
This photo was taken a week or so earlier in the front garden. |
The primula and primroses are doing quite a good job of self seeding around the garden which, as you can imagine, I am very happy about as I love to see them. |
This lovely shrub just keeps on flowering. |
The rhubarb looks a bit healthier this year. Perhaps because I removed some of the strawberries that were starting to crowd it. |
There seems to be fewer flowers on the forsythias this year. Perhaps it's a bit early or perhaps not such a good year for them. |
The last few pampas fronds got cut down after the photos had been taken and the pampas grass cut back. It's had its turn so now it can have a rest. |
The hyacinths are starting to flower. Hopefully they'll still be showing off when I do the photos for April. |
This photo was taken a week or so ago when these daffodils were at their best. They are starting to fade a bit now. |
The last remaining blossom flowers. They were doing very well until the rain and strong wind came along and blew most of them off. The cornus were cut back after the photo shoot. Time for their rest after providing so much lovely colour through the winter. |
This shrub is covered in flowers this year. It seems to thrive in this bed. |
That's it for this month. |
