Our Garden - May 2017 |
We'll start and end this month's photos with our furry friends. They are getting a bit more used to each other in that they don't run away, sneak up on one another etc. |
These acquilegia are self seeded - all over the front garden but so pretty I don't like to dig them out. |
These alliums came from Janet and did nothing last year but are doing pretty well this year - lovely plants. |
The bluebells have been lovely this year. |
The azalea flowers year after year and seems to grow even more each year. |
We lost the big cistus this winter so this one is the last survivor. Hope it lasts a while. |
The pyracanthus is budding up nicely. Looks like we'll have lots of flowers and therefore lots of berries. Lucky birds! |
The aubretia is doing OK this year. |
The tamarisk is putting on a good show and lights up beautifully in the late afternoon sun |
The onions are doing better this year. |
The broad beans are almost ready whereas the courgettes were only planted today. |
The bees are busy! |
The weigelia looks very dramatic in this light |
That'll be me in the photo! |
The evening sunshine was lovely on the cotinus - it should be called a fire bush rather than a smoke bush! |
We have a few self seeded calendula |
These little flowers were part of our Jubilee red, white and blue. When we took them out of the pots, we planted them in the gravel bed where they seem to be doing just fine. |
The red robins are putting on a really good show this year. |
The bees love this ceanothus |
This is the only flower on the lilac tree this year but it's trying very hard to make up for the missing ones! |
More lovely white blossom |
The first of the potentilla to flower |
Another self seeded treat |
The wallflowers seem very happy in these beds |
The yellow rose is amazing this year. Earlier than normal and I'm sure even more flowers than usual |
Lots of hostas - slugs haven't done too much damage yet but time will tell. |
Snow in summer - pops up year after year and looks lovely |
Lots of reds in the garden especially if we "borrow" next door's copper beech for the photos. |
Some years this tree is better than others. This year it's looking good. |
Lots of lovely, lush foliage on the ramp back up to the greenhouse and patio area. |
The tulips are just about done for another year. |
I love the mix of aubretia and bluebells |
Comfrey is medicinal and also makes for good fertiliser. |
The greenhouse is keeping our seedlings safe and sound and the tomatoes are in - 6 different varieties this year. |
... and this is Oli who seems to have adopted us. He's a really handsome cat who enjoys human company and purrs very loudly! That's it for this month. |
