Our Garden - October 2017 |
It's definitely Autumn! The weather has been amazingly mild this weekend but a lot of the plants are dying back like this Acanthus. |
The acers are starting to change colour but not quite at their autumn best yet. |
This smaller one is doing well though. |
Seed heads can be really interesting. |
You can see my little helper in the photo on the right. |
It must have been mild for the Alstromaeria to be still in flower (not many left now). |
The Cosmos are still flowering well - they were a really good buy from the bargain bit of the garden centre. |
The snowball bushes seem to be prolific this year. |
Lots and lots of berries around. |
This is the last surviving chrysanthemum bush - perhaps I need to invest in a few more for next year. |
Thanks Christine for the cyclamen - they seem to be settling in well. |
Some of the leaves change colour more "prettily" than others. |
I love the autumn colours, especially in the late sunshine. |
The nerine are doing really well, spreading nicely and providing a lovely splash of colour in the small bed. |
The tree paeony has changed to a lovely red colour. |
The palmate bush is thriving - hope it survives the winter if it's still growing now. |
Dramatic lighting for the pampas! |
It will soon be time to take the pelargoniums out and over-winter them in the shed. |
All the pelargoniums were either saved or grown from cuttings from last year. |
This one is particularly pretty. |
No idea what this pretty weed is! |
The pyracantha has gone mad this year. |
The roses are still flowering as well (some of them at least). |
This Queen Elizabeth is doing really well. |
The sedum is at its most colourful. |
The grass bed was catching the late afternoon sun really nicely. |
The spiraea are starting to change colour. |
The echinops are over but the birds might like the seed heads so I'll leave them for now. |
The viburnum is thriving. I've filled the front bed with aquilegias so hopefully they will cope with the dryness. |
The front garden (left) is doing really well this year. It will soon be time to take out the alstromaeria but they have to die back first! |
The Cotinus change from red to orange in autumn and here they go. |
You might have noticed that some of the photos were before I edged the grass and some after! I was concerned about losing the light so took most of the photos before I'd finished working in the garden. |
My very helpful "helper" guarding the lavender. That's all for this month. |
