Our Garden September 2014 |
The acers are starting to change colour so Autumn must be on its way even though it's only mid September. They look lovely at this time of year. |
The Heuchera also provide a good range of colour in their bed. We added a few more this year (all from Plantagogo) so the bed is nice and full now. |
The Fuchsias that are planted in the garden seem to have done this well - much better than those in pots. |
The Sedum (Ice Plant) is at its vibrant pink best. I took a couple of cuttings and put them in this small bed last year - they seem to be taking quite well. The pink works well with the Cosmos. |
The Roses seem to having a new lease of life - such beautiful flowers.
We've had more beans than we know what to do with this year but have managed to find homes for them all so far. The leeks are coming along nicely so looking forward to eating them soon. |
Another sure fire way of knowing Autumn has arrived is the appearance of the Pampas fronds. |
Can't remember what this was called but I know if came from Fred and Nina on one of my visits to their lovely garden. |
These spikey monsters are a great attraction for the birds but they spread like wildfire. |
One of the few Dahlias that survived from last year. |
The Echinops are still providing height and spikey interest although starting to fade back. |
The main Hydrangeas are changing into this lovely deep pink colour. |
You can't see these flowers in the photo on the left but they are at the other side of the Hydrangea |
In case you think it's strange to still have the netting over the strawberries (above) I'd like to report that they are better now than they were at their "normal" fruiting time. |
Always hungry, you'd think they never got fed. |
This is the one pot Fuchsia that is doing well. |
Another plant that is performing better now than it did in the Spring / early Summer. |
I love the way the dew has covered this Potentilla. |
The Marigolds are in the patio beds mixed in with the Clary Claryssima - a lovely combination. |
That's it for this month. |
