Klaus's Retirement Party
Klaus retired in 2009. His last day in the office was early March but he wasn't old enough to retire then so we had the usual client reception at the RAC club in March (which was also Klaus's official retirement party) then he had his "proper" retirement party at the end of June, pending his final retirement at the end of July.
Margarete did her usual good organising and bottles of wine and jugs of water were waiting for us when we arrived at The Pavillion End. Jonathan helped put up the banner because Margarete couldn't reach!
With lots of people gathered it was time for the presents. First of all from WestImmo ... the "Traditional Present" (Champagne) ...
... the "Present to Share" (a Book about Hampstead Heath) ...
... the "Funny Present" (a Helium Balloon with Ferrero Rocher Chocolates attached so it didn't fly away) ...
... the "Sentimental Present" (a Book full of good wishes and memories from lots of Klaus's friends) ...
... and the "Real Present" - a Tank Driving Day. Klaus will get to drive 3 different types of tank and a quad bike - keep off the roads that day!!
Not to be outdone, Helaba gave him a brilliant card and various wine related presents including a Champagne and Wine Tasting with Vinopolis.
Klaus had to make a speech (of course) .
Then we went back to partying while we waited for the food. It soon arrived and was lovely.
