Open Garden - May 2012
We opened for St. Christopher's Hospice on Sunday 27th May this year. The weather was glorious - beautiful sunshine - and this year we needed the gazebos for shade rather than shelter! We had the usual refreshments, a raffle and a plant stall. We also had a Just Giving page (www.justgiving.com/Shirley-and-Jonathon) - people are incredibly generous. Thank you to everyone who supported us! We had our best year ever with £743.32 on the day and justgiving donations of £595.00 giving a total of £1,338.32. Add to that HSBC's matching money of £500.00 and we were really pleased with the day. Most of the photos without people in were taken the day before we opened in case I ran out of time (always do) etc on the day. If anybody would prefer not to have a photo of themselves on this website, please let me know and I'll remove it. |

The views are in no particular order, they are just to give you an idea of what the garden looked like on the day we opened.
I'll scatter some close ups of the flowers that were open. There were lots of buds waiting to put on a show so it's promising for the next few months as well! |
The cotinus is finally opening - it really didn't like the cold, wet April! |
The new patio furniture was well used on the day, especially as the big umbrella gave lots of shade. |
The pampas hasn't really grown back yet - too cold in April for it - but the fox has made a nice nest for himself in it! |
The fish were well fed - I had a couple of helpers during the afternoon. |
This is our contribution to the Jubilee celebrations. We have 6 pots down the steps - all kitted out in red, blue and white. |
Where do they get so much energy from? |
Having had no flowers last year, the lilac has been great this year. |
The ceanothus has been lovely this year - the bees love it. |
Thank you for your support. |
