19 July

Gym then church so it felt like I was back to normal this morning, apart from dosing Oli up with meds.

Jonathon and I went to the GPO for lunch - it's the most either of us have eaten for quite a few days so perhaps we are starting to get used to our new situation with Oli. Oli, in the meantime, seems to be a bit more active in spurts today. At other times, he sleeps and sleeps but cats do sleep a lot so maybe we shouldn't worry about that too much.

Our Knoll walk was this evening. We went to Goddington Park and Lilly's Wood. The park, like everywhere, is really dry and brown rather than green. The wood was lovely and cool and we had the usual photo on one of the dinosaur trees. It was good to see corn being harvested - hope they get it baled soon!

20 July

Sorted Oli out and ran a few errands then Gilda came for our Monday walk. We went to NT Petts Wood, through the pretty tunnel and had a good walk around there. There were loads of butterflies around today.

I helped Sonya by lopping some low branches off her tree then went to the High Street to get some bits and pieces, only to come across Sylvia in a collapsed state in the alleyway. Jim, her husband, and a couple of other neighbours were with her and they called for an ambulance. I helped to get her out of the sun and into a chair then walked back to the top of the hill so I could direct the ambulance crew because she wasn't visible from there. The neighbours managed to get her into their house and Jim came to wait for ambulance so I went and did my shopping.

Alma's away but after all that there was no time to do any cleaning before tennis. When I got back, Pratik was here to borrow our tree lopper and was having a chat with Jonathon about photography.

Oli has been out and about today, only coming in when he's hungry. He's still very poorly and his face is quite swollen but seems to be reasonably happy doing his own thing.

21 July

It was pond day today. Terry and Dean came and emptied the pond so they could give it a thorough clean. They found a rip in the lining and the bubble pumps need to be replaced so that will be dealt with tomorrow. In the meantime, tap water is slowly trickling in via the dechlorinator.

I was delighted to learn that all the fish had survived the green slimy water. It probably helped because we had extra pumps running oxygen through all the time. For now, the fish are in two large blue tanks on the lawn waiting to be returned to their sparkling clean home once it\s filled up again.

Oli news - he has an appointment at North Down Specialist Referral Clinic for next Monday so things are moving forward. We are due to see Keanu at Andersons on Thursday to see if his eye is improving (or not).

Day to day news - this morning, I went to the gym for circuits with Jo then played tennis with Sharon. My main afternoon job was housework with Alma being away for a couple of weeks. Not my favourite activity!

22 July

Delighted to see one of my photos in this week's local paper.

Oli seems to be holding his own. His eye is still a mess and it'll be interesting / worrying to see what Keanu (vet) says tomorrow.

Pauline invited Carole, Marie and me to lunch at The Ivy in York so off I went on a series of trains. They all ran on time (there and back) so it was quite an easy journey.

Marie was only able to join us for lunch but C, P & I followed a "Watchers" trail and visited parts of York we didn't know before heading back to the station to catch our trains.
