London Wetland Centre 2014
coot

For my 50th birthday Jonathon bought me a day with Iain Green, one of our favourite wildlife photographers, at London Wetland Centre in Barnes, South West London. A few years later (2014) we both joined Iain for another day there. We had a great day with lots of wildlife to photograph as you'll see below.

cat

Not sure what this cat was doing there. Perhaps eyeing some of the wildfowl for dinner but it was sitting quietly in the scrub.

It was nest building and egg hatching season - the birds were very busy.

One of Iain's friends, Lawrence, very kindly let us see this Grass Snake that he'd found.

This is probably my favourite photo of the day.

There were quite a few flowers around. Iain got up close and personal.

Lots of blossom made the trees pretty, as did the bright green leaves.

There are a couple of Asian Otters there as well. Not wild and very noisy but cute all the same.

The Redshanks were flitting about all over the place but didn't get very close at all.

These tiny Sand Martens were flying back to their bank. There were quite a few of them but they were really fast.

As you can see, we had a wonderful day, so much so that we are now members of the WWT.
