I was putting the leopard first on this page and lions last as we saw a lot of lions but not many leopards but then we saw this lovely Serval Cat - what a treat. As you can tell, they move very quickly! |
|
Leopard |
This leopard was really well camouflaged. Thankfully there was a troop of monkeys calling their alarm so we knew to look carefully to try and find it |
Believe it or not, there is a leopard in this tree! Look for the spots (towards the left). |
|
|
Cheetah next. We didn't see many of those either - none at all until the final full day, When we did, the experience was the best of the holiday as the two cheetah cubs decided to check us out and came right up to the vehicle. Such a treat. |

We were very lucky with Lions - we saw quite a few of them in each of the three parks that we visited. |

Getting ready to hunt - there was a Buffalo with calf not far away. In the end, both male and female decided it was too much effort and walked away! |
Not sure what happened to this lion but it looked like he'd been speared with a horn or similar. |

Lions in the middle of the road is not really what you expect when you turn a corner. We didn't have to look too far for lions on the way out of Lake Manyara National Park - it's almost as if they were waiting to say goodbye! |

By this time, we had moved on to the Serengeti. We were looking for lions in the Moru Kopjes (rocks) but found this lovely, healthy looking male in the long grass instead. |

I don't think he was very happy about being disturbed but a good shake and he was off - only to a nearby tree for shade and a further sleep. |

We drove over to Namiri Plains to check outa new camp for us and the new Asilia camp (significantly refurbished!). Lunch was at Asilia and the view was exceptional! We were amazingly lucky with the big cats and this is a tiny selection of the thousands of photos we took. |
