Tanzania August / September 2019 - Other Wildlife |

As mentioned on Page 1, I am splitting the photos by type of animal this time around. Please click on the following links to see the page you'd like to view: |
||
These Banded Mongoose were having a very busy time, scurrying here and there with the lookout keeping a close eye on things. |
||
Dwarf Mongoose, as the name suggests, are tiny. They had taken over an old termite mound and kept popping out here and there. |

We saw quite a few Black-backed Jackals in our travels. Beautiful animals and always worth a photo. |

We also saw a Side-striped Jackal but no Golden Jackal this time - perhaps an excuse to go back for another safari. |

Vervet monkeys are also known as blue-balled monkeys, for obvious reasons! They are highly amusing to watch and we were really lucky with the afternoon light one day. |

This Vervet Monkey was sounding the alarm which gave a good indication we should be looking out for predator. We found a very well camouflaged leopard not far away. |

Olive Baboon are very family oriented, sticking together even if it sounds like they are killing each other when they are chasing around screaming. |

We didn't see many Gentle Monkeys, and those we did see, tended to be sitting around being "gentle". The one in the tree (left) was clearly enjoying the fruit / seeds. The one on the right was eating leaves. |

Bees' nest - no idea how many bees but far too many to get close. |
African Savannah Hare - love the way the afternoon sun lit up his ears.
|
Marsh Terrapin - Jonathon got down to floor level to take this photo. Amazing how fast this little creature could move when he decided he'd had a long enough photo shoot. |
There were loads of pretty butterflies everywhere - so good to see. I have no idea how many different types we saw. The day we had lunch by the pool we could easily have seen more than 10 species in just that short time. The blister beetle on the right was on Jonathon's hat. Good job we spotted it before he touched it otherwise it would have lived up to its name! |

As you can see, we saw an amazing variety of wildlife as we travelled around. |
