Tanzania August / September 2019 - Hippos & Buffalo |
As mentioned on Page 1, I am splitting the photos by type of animal this time around. Please click on the following links to see the page you'd like to view: |

As I did last time around, I've combined hippo and buffalo on the same page as they are both very unpredicatable and quite dangerous animals in the areas we stayed. The hippo photos are towards the bottom of the page. |
We waited for ages for these buffalo to cross the road. Eventually off they went. |
It was good to see a few calves around. Yellow-billed Ox Peckers on the back of the one on the right. |
We hadn't seen many hippos until we spotted this one. It's a hippo with Marsh Terrapin on board. He/she also had a couple of Mountain Wagtails on its back at one point! |
They talk about sardines but nothing beats a group of Hippo all crammed together in the water. |
It was great to see this one out of the water and to get quite (but not too) close! |
